The Club is limited to 100 members. Each member holds a membership that includes full access to our Weaver Lake facility for recreational use such as relaxing, fishing, hunting, boating etc. The Weaver Lake property is located in Northern California and sits on 49 acres at 6000 feet in the Sierra Nevada and includes a 22-room lodge with full kitchen facilities including multiple commercial style stoves, separate caretakers quarters, multiple boat docks on Weaver Lake, swimming facilities, spring fed water system, integrated fire protection plant and a power plant with multiple electrical generators providing 24 hour power during the usable season. During the winter, when the snow level generally is higher than the lodge is tall, the lodge is closed for use but snowmobile access is allowed with the 2-story caretaker’s quarters available for use by a limited number of members at one time. Our
club annually sponsor's a spring Kid's Trout Derby at Lion's Lake in Grass
Valley, California for boys and girls up through the age of 12.
We charge no admission fee and provide a soft drink, hot dog, fishing
tackle and bait to each and every young person, at no charge, along with
numerous prizes for the winners. With
the help of the California
Department of Fish and Game and the Fish and Wildlife Commission we also
stock the lake prior to the derby with thousands of pounds of Trout, some trophy
size, to ensure an enjoyable fishing experience. In addition, our club
members continually provide labor and materials to maintain and improve Lion's
Lake as well as other facilities throughout the Nevada County California
Fairgrounds. We fund all of our youth programs including the Fish Derby from our membership dues, various fundraisers throughout the year and private donations from individuals and businesses. It’s expensive and a lot of work, but it’s worth it to see hundreds of families having fun together while teaching another generation how to fish! |
