Grass Valley Sportsmen’s Annual Crab Feed
Nevada County Fair
Our club runs the “Loadin’ Chute” Beer Booth at the Nevada County Fair. We have one of the larger beer booths right next to Treat Street with a large deck area where you can hang out with your friends!
McNally Steak Feed
Grass Valley Sportsmen also has the annual McNally Steak Feed. It always includes great food, great music, and raffle prizes.
Draft Horse Classic
The Draft Horse Classic is one of the oldest events at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. The Grass Valley Sportsmen’s operates the “Loadin’ Chute” beer garden at this event
Annual Kid’s Trout Derby
Our club annually sponsor’s a spring Kid’s Trout Derby at Lion’s Lake in Grass Valley, California for boys and girls up through the age of 12. We charge NO admission fee and provide a soft drink and hot dog to each and every young person, at no charge, along with numerous prizes for the winners.
With the help of the California Department of Fish and Game and the Fish and Wildlife Commission we also pay for and stock the lake prior to the derby with thousands of pounds of Trout. The club always buys and plants some trophy size fish to ensure an enjoyable fishing experience for the kids. We have many loyal local sponsors that help us with donations of food, prizes, fishing gear and other essential ingredients for a successful derby.
In addition, our club members continually provide labor and materials to maintain and improve Lion’s Lake as well as other facilities throughout the Nevada County California Fairgrounds.
